What engineering means to me
Engineering is a path for me to continue discovering more about the world and reapplying my knowledge to improve the lives of others. I challenge myself by tackling new problems, using CAD to design and 3D print a custom dish sponge holder for my sink, or using physical modeling to prototype a hands-free opener for the city’s waste bins to reduce disease transmission.
As I grow, I know the tools around me will too. I can use satellites to explore the possibilities of life beyond our solar system, wind tunnels to explore the drag coefficient of a car, or infrared lasers, to explore the electron distribution of subatomic particles. I want to learn how to design environmentally conscious systems mindful of our changing world. Engineering is constantly evolving, and as humanity begins to shift towards protecting the long-term health of our planet, I want to be at the forefront, leading the change.
